This photography collection of significant rural historic centers in the West Bank is a 21st-century-testimony of what is left of this distinctive yet endangered traditional architecture.
As part of RIWAQ's efforts to improve alternative tourism and support the rehabilitation of rural historic centers in Palestine, the photographs introduced in the online map bring a virtual experience to a wide audience to explore Palestinian villages and landscapes and raise awareness of their importance and potentials.
Throughout 2014, photographer Tanya Habjouqa and architect Lana Judeh toured 20 rural historic centers in the West Bank. The tour was sponsored by the ‘Cultural Innovators Labs’ as part of the ‘Cultural Leadership and Innovation Programme’ at the British Council in MENA.
The other photographs included in this virtual tour are part of the Riwaq Photo Archive.
