Asira ash Shamaliya

Educators and Farmers

When Riwaq works in a village or a town, we try to map the strengths and potentials of that locality. In Asira ash Shamaliya, we found that the town got more than 100,000 olive trees (more than 10 trees per-capita). We also found that the town has more than 300 schoolteachers who on daily-basis leave the town to the neighboring villages and towns to educate boys and girls in public schools. We also found that the town has more than 450 well-preserved historic houses. With troops of educators, jungles of olive trees, army of farmers and great historic center, Riwaq’s rehabilitation project focused on the enhancing of the built environment through interventions in public spaces and through renewal of residential units.
