RIWAQ’S GUIDELINES FOR RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS IN PALESTINE

RIWAQ’S REGISTRY OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS IN PALESTINE

Riwaq - Center for Architectural Conservation is pleased to announce the publication of the first three volumes of Riwaq’s Registry of Historic Buildings in Palestine. The first volume explains the idea of the project and provides information on the cultural heritage in Palestine pointing out its importance and highlighting the benefits of an organized investment in its protection. It also includes a Technical Introduction section that breaks down the project into its different stages. It explains the questionnaire; the registration process; the database; the photo archive; the maps; the technical and bureaucratic difficulties encountered during the course of this project; and the general results of the Registry.

The second volume includes a detailed account of the survey results for all historic buildings in each governorate, their location, the number of localities within each, this is followed by a report on each population center (town or village), which includes a brief history, its location, the number of historic buildings. The third volume is a photographic narration of architectural heritage in Palestine.
