Tom Kay Award for freehand architectural drawing - a competition launched in 2008, as specified in the will of the deceased pro-Palestinian British architect, Tom Kay. Organized by Riwaq, the Tom Kay Award targets Palestinian engineering students in the aim of encouraging them to spend less time in front of computer screens, and more time using their sketchbooks and pencils to explore, appreciate, draw, and document the architectural heritage in Palestine.

About Tom Kay:

Tom Kay was a London based architect who lived in Ramallah in last few years of his life. He taught at Birzeit University and had volunteered in Riwaq since 2006.  In December 2007, Tom died in London and in his will; he allocated a fund for the setup of an annual drawing competition geared towards students of Engineering in Palestinian universities.
